FAQs

How often should I practice Bikram Yoga?

For maximum benefits, Bikram Yoga should be practiced a minimum of 10 times per month. Daily practice is encouraged. Take your first few classes as close together as possible.

What if I am not flexible?

Flexibility, like strength and endurance, is built over time. With patience, perserverance and regular practice, you will begin to see your body open up in ways you never imagined possible.

Why is the room heated?

The room is heated to allow for deep yet safe stretching of muscles. It also promotes detoxification of the body.

What should I bring to class?

Bring a yoga mat, a large towel and a bottle of water.

Should I get into shape or lose weight before coming to my first class?

Bikram Yoga is ideal for individuals of all fitness levels. The yoga room is a place free of judgement or criticism. Come exactly as you are.

What should I eat before class?

Try to avoid eating in the hours before class. Come to class well hydrated and on an empty stomach.

Can I practice Bikram Yoga when I am pregnant?

Yes! If you have never practiced before it is not recommended to start during the first trimester. Individuals who practice regularly before the pregnancy can practice through the entire pregnancy. Poses are modified. Click here to view modification.

Can I leave the room during class?

We require everyone to stay still and on their yoga mats during class. If you are not feeling well, it is much better to sit on your mat until you feel ready to continue. We do not recommend changing your body temperature by entering and exiting the room.

What props should I bring?

The beauty of Bikram Yoga is that we don’t use props, all you need is your self. The structure of Bikram Yoga allows your body to use its creative intelligence and natural resistance to realign, tone, and restore everything back to perfect working order.

Note: You will notice teachers and most experienced students do no drink water in class. Most of the people who have water bottles in class are visiting from other studios.

Of course, no one will yell at you if you sip your water, but please consider the following:

- Yoga class is not a workout like you would have at a fitness club. We hold still in the postures and hold still out of the postures, breathing normally through the nose.
- Drink plenty of water before and after class.
- While you are in class, focus on your breath. This will help you so much more than water, and you are less likely to belch and feel nauseous from having a full belly.
